Hi,my name is Marian D. Toma,and I'm a freelance 3d character artist.
I am involved in several indie projects, and my main skill is sculpting and designing inside Zbrush, which I learned on my own, even if most of my skills as an artist have been born by studying traditional arts.
I've learned painting and drawing while at University of Arts in Cluj Napoca,Romania; after that I started painting digitally using Photoshop and trying several other 2d programs. While I was looking for ways of painting more realistically ,I've found out about people using 3d renders inside their paintings, and painting on top of the renders. This lead me to Zbrush, which felt more closer to me because of my traditional art skills.
From there,it was a small step to fall in love with this software :)After some months learning Zbrush, and loads of 3d sculpted sketches,I become more confident with the software so now I can quickly iterate on characters, and having fun designing them.
I found out about this competition,http://www.cartridgesave.co.uk/www.cartridgesave.co.uk/3DPrintCup ,from a post on Facebook, and I felt like checking it out; the idea of getting together people, mostly non-professionals,students,and give them the chance to design something which will be printed in 3d,appealed to me,so I decided to participate.
The chance to meet new people, all related to 3d modelling, and printing, either sculptors or designers, its very important for me.I would love to meet some of the industry experts, and get feedback on my work, also get a cool 3d printed figurine for my portfolio.
I can't wait to see how people tackle this cool idea, about superhero, see how they go about it,and mostly, the most important thing, just meet them and share ideas.
So,people,hopefully I'll see you there!
Just to be sure, thats going to be in 11 July 2013,at Tib Street Tavern, Manchester M4 1LG
